Home and away

The Cat & Fiddle in Los Angeles (formerly on Sunset Blvd., now on Melrose) is a hangout for UK ex-pats, many of whom are musicians and/or thesps. Even ex-pros. So it's no surprise that their football team is legendary. How many other pub sides ply their trade in the 5th tier of the American soccer pyramid? (And they play exhibition/charity games too.) Their ground is the Crossroads High School in Santa Monica and they are co-owned by Steve Jones (Sex Pistols) and Anthony LaPaglia (Adelaide City keeper/Daphne Moon's brother in Frasier). Their alumni includes Vinnie Jones (Wimbledon/Lock Stock), Frank Leboeuf (Chelsea), Viv Campbell (Def Leppard), Ian Astbury (The Cult) and Ray Winstone (all round professional hard man). Anyone wondering why Rod Stewart never turned out for them it's because he played for their rivals LA Exiles who really were just in it for shits and giggles.
