I've probably seen Dodgy live more than any other band. In fact, strike the word probably. I even saw them after Nigel Clark had pulled stumps in 1998 and the other two were in limp home mode and sorely missing the power of their vital main engine. And I've seen Nigel play live both with his own band and solo; so when it comes to The Way of Dodgy I'm pretty clued up. But last night at Nottingham's Rescue Rooms the band were, quite simply, on another level: playing cuts off their breathtaking new album Hello Beautiful and augmenting the set with a smattering of 90s bangers from their first three albums and you've got a pretty heady mix going on. The crowd loved it and you could see the band were feeding off their vibe. Like I say, another level.

I usually say hello afterwards - Nigel knows me as that bloke who supported them in York and always calls me 'man'. I told him last night I'd been carrying this book around for 30 years and it was high time him and Matt and Andy signed it. Which of course they did. They thought it was hilarious. I, of course, was made up.
They also signed their new album which I shall bequeath to James.
I snaffled a new Dodgy tee as well; which I bequeathed to myself.
