Blaring out of the Guitar Cavern late yesterday afternoon at full tilt was this lost classic: I had to dig deep into my brain's filing cabinet to retrieve the young scally's name. But retrieve it I did. Jim Noir. Please don't think I'm using the term scally in a pejorative sense by the way. I confess to knowing nothing about him other than he makes, or certainly used to make, mighty fine records.
And none finer than Eanie Meany.

My little town

At last night's Songwriters Circle one of our new recruits from outside the region commented on just how many songwriters there are in my little town. And she's got a point.
We then embarked on a sort of flashback episode where we counted all current and past members who have been coming to our group in the last five years or so - and it really is an impressive list. And it's funny how, despite the makeup of the group, we never get the same combination of musicians in any two back to back meetings. I'm hoping to do some Q&As with one or two of them on the blog (with links to their great songs) - so keep an eye out for a new mini-series.

Although we've yet to see him sat at the bar, next week we'll be sliding into one of Robert Plant's locals. They keep Guinness particularly well in there, so if Bob is a no show it won't be the end of the world. And, anyway, I wouldn't want him bugging me all night, asking me if he can sing on my new album. Sorry Robert.

After there we'll probably make our way to The Bishop's Knob for a couple before pitching up at one of the many excellent Indian restaurants on The Tything. I'm a simple man, with simple tastes.
