Waking up to find there's an extra hour in the day can't be a bad thing can it? Unless you're in chokey. Don't we all dream of being able to wind the clocks back? As I type this my wrist watch tells me it's not even nine o'clock. A full day ahead. A blank canvas to fill - in anyway I choose.
And, if I go to bed an hour later tonight I've grabbed another hour; time really is going nowhere.
I’m getting excited: I always do when a gig that I’ve had in the diary, seemingly forever, finally approaches. My love of Jinski is well documented and any opportunity I get to catch them in a live situation I jump on immediately. Their songs are so lovingly crafted and tug at every emotion possible. And they tend to play the sort of venues where you feel you're practically up on stage with them. Quite why or how they've never broken through to the mainstream is a mystery to me - Radio 2 would have a field day with them. I guess they'll have to remain a well kept secret a little while longer yet.
We had the pleasure of being entertained by Jinski the other night. They blow me away every time I see them. And they remind me so much of Del Amitri - achingly beautiful songs that are for ever catching me unawares. And none more so than Tick Tock from their Down Here album. I've asked them for the lyrics and chords as I'd love to work out an arrangement sometime. It really doesn't matter how many times I hear it, I still have to pinch myself. John Peel used to sob uncontrollably when he heard certain songs: I know how he felt.
