Slam in The Lamb

Anyone who knows me will tell you I do like a couthie bar. And it was in one such establishment that my friend Steve and I found ourselves in yesterday: The Lamb on Holloway Road, London N8 - less than five minutes from where Joe Meek shot himself and his landlady in 1967 - is a thriving independent pub with welcoming staff and a fine selection of locally brewed beers. As well as the craic yesterday afternoon (every bit as good as it was in Cricklewood) we were also joined by Charlie the spotty dog. What more can you possibly ask for?

Except, perhaps, the most impressive gallery of rock and roll ephemera I've ever seen in a pub's Gents; one of the few times I've reached for my camera in a public lavatory.

  1. Impressive! I wonder what's in the Ladies?

    1. Now that is a v good question, C. Steve and I couldn't possibly have ventured forth but I could have asked the young lady behind the bar for a definitive answer.

  2. Did they have themed toilet paper and paper towels?

  3. As impressive as those walls are, I always think it's a shame when they decorate the lavvies in such fine style. You can't really hang around admiring them with your camera, can you...?

    Erm, forget I said anything.

  4. What an impressive "Gents". Think I would have liked Destiny magazine. Don't make a habit of hovering in men's toilets with a camera though.
